I remember each time vividly, because they were 'events.' My mom has never spanked my brother. I cannot imagine her attempting to say or do anything negative to us. She'll cry to guilt trip us to no end, but I feel she does not have a sort of malicious bone in her body.. and that's rare I think, but somewhat to be expected considering what her husband and my biological father did to us. I am not sure what spanking accomplishes or how it became custom to do that to children. And in no way am I saying that physical negativity is any better or worse than mental negativity... and I don't say abuse, because I think that can be contested in context.
